WHAT IS DISTANCE EDUCATION (EAD)?

Distance Education (EaD) is an educational modality present in DECREE Nº 9,057, OF MAY 25, 2017, which regulates Art. 80 of the Laws and Bases of Education Law – Law 9,394 / 96. Distance Learning works today as a great idealizer, catalyst and multiplier of knowledge, in which the didactic-pedagogical mediation in teaching and learning processes occurs through the use of information and communication media and technologies, with students and teachers developing educational activities in different places or at different times. Distance education is now known as a flexible education and is divided into: semi-distance and totally distance learning.

WHAT IS THE VISION OF THE FACULDADE ARAGUAIA ?

The Faculdade Araguaia, in designing the insertion of Distance Education as a teaching modality, is using, in an innovative way, teaching-learning practices with the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), offering a complete learning process, dynamic and efficient. In addition, it provides teachers / tutors and students with greater flexibility in the construction of knowledge.

With Distance Education, Faculdade Araguaia seeks to meet the need for updating the student as a whole, whether for personal or professional aspects, which seeks for easy access to materials, interactivity and accessible values.

Our Pedagogical principles are guided by theorists such as Moran, Azevedo and Lévy, as well as in the Construction, Interaction, Sharing, Mediation, Cooperation and Autonomy of Technological Networks.

The Virtual Learning Environment, adopted by Faculdade Araguaia, is the Moodle Platform.

The Faculty of Araguaia EAD team maintains the commitment to constant technical and pedagogical monitoring, from the proposal of the discipline to its execution. The main actors involved are: the student, the online tutor, the face-to-face tutor, the content teacher, the coordination of the course and the coordination of the Distance Education Technology Center (NUTEC-EaD).

WHAT ARE THE DISTANCE MODALITIES OFFERED BY THE FACULDADE ARAGUAIA?

Currently, Faculdade Araguaia offers:
1) Graduations in Administration and Pedagogy in Distance modality (EaD), recognized by the MEC;
2) Presential courses, with subjects in the Presence and Distance (EaD) modalities, respecting the current legislation of 20% (twenty percent) of the total workload of the Presencial Course (only in Brazilian territory);
3) Summer Disciplines in Distance modality (EaD);
4) Post Graduations in Distance modality (EaD).

A GRADUATION OR DISCIPLINE IN THE MODALITY AND DO YOU HAVE THE SAME QUALITY OFFERED IN THE PRESENTLY MODALITY?

A degree or discipline in the modality in EaD has methodologies that guarantee the same quality as in the Presencial modality, providing to the student a greater flexibility in the search of the knowledge. In this sense, it is the student’s responsibility and interaction in the construction of the knowledge relevant to his human and professional development.

The diploma of a course in the modality EDA recognized by the MEC, has exactly the same validity of a diploma of a face-to-face course (in Brazilian territory), being able the student to register for vacancies of job with requirement of superior course, to enter in post-graduations and participate in public tenders.

HOW IS THE OPERATION OF THE DISTANCE DISCIPLINES OFFERED FOR EACH AND PRESENCE GRADUATIONS?

The students have access to the Virtual Learning Environment (MOODLE), where the contents (units) and activities to be worked during the semester are available, always with the pedagogical support of online and face-to-face tutors.

The interaction with the students, during the course, takes place through this Virtual Learning Environment that provides the contact and relationship of both involved, and the attendance sessions offered by the online and face-to-face tutors.

ARE THE ACTIVITIES OF THE EADS EQUAL TO THOSE INVOLVING THE PRESENT ACTIVITIES?

The activities in EaD have the same degree of difficulty of a face-to-face discipline. However, EaD requires skills, abilities, attitudes and habits such as: autonomous study and greater responsibility on the part of the student to achieve success at the end of the discipline.

ARE THERE ADVANTAGES OF CURSING A GRADUATION OR DISCIPLINE IN THE EaD MODALITY?

Yes. The main advantage of the modality is to provide the student with greater flexibility in the construction of knowledge, bringing improvement of personal and professional skills and abilities, being also more dynamic and interactive, using various levels of Information and Communication Technologies ). The student still exercises questions related to the organization of his time, essential element to the professional of today, being able to decide the best place and the best moment for his studies.

In addition, it is not necessary to go to Faculdade Araguaia or the Face-to-Face Support Center, except for face-to-face assessment, resulting in savings in terms of time, displacement and cost.

IN EAD ACTIVITIES, ARE ALL ENCOUNTERS DISTANCE OR DO WE ALSO HAVE PRESENT ENCOUNTERS?

In the graduations offered in the totally distance modality, periodic meetings are realized according to the calendars of the courses. The face-to-face meetings, held at the In-Home Support Poles, are designed to carry out activities, classes and evaluations.

WHAT KNOWLEDGE ARE NEEDED TO COURSE A GRADUATION OR DISCIPLINE IN EaD?

To take a degree or a course in the EaD mode, students must have basic computer skills, internet browsing, text editors, an e-mail address, broadband internet access and readability.

WHAT ARE THE OBLIGATIONS OF THE STUDENT THAT COURTS A GRADUATION OR DISCIPLINE IN EAD OF THE FACULDADE ARAGUAIA?

To make the registration in EaD by the secretary of its academic unit, to attend the classes in the Virtual Environment, to carry out the activities and evaluations, proposed by the professor / tutor, as well as to make doubts with the tutors online and in person. To have basic knowledge of Informatics, covering questions related to the use of electronic mail, Internet, text editor, spreadsheet and presentation software. Regularly access the Moodle Platform, which is the Virtual Learning Environment adopted by Faculdade Araguaia. No EaD is not easy! Although the student can study at the time that is most convenient to him, the charge of a distance course is very similar to that of a classroom.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE CONTEUDIST TEACHER?

• Prepare the content of the course and the activities that guide the teaching / learning process of the student, in close collaboration with the coordination of the course and coordination of the Technology Center in Distance Education (NUTEC-EaD);
• Prepare face-to-face assessment questions;
• Monitor the development of the discipline and propose possible changes;
• Encourage student learning through comments on activities submitted for review and correction of forums and chats.

At Araguaia College, the tutoring is done exclusively by the teacher / tutor responsible for the subject and the tutor in person.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE GUARDIAN ONLINE?

• Make direct contact with students through the Moodle Platform;
• Guidance as to the content and activities to be developed;
• Direct debates and discussions;
• To heal students’ doubts about activities, grades, platform, among others;
• Apply and correct face-to-face assessments;
• Evaluate the activities of the platform;
• Record student’s notes and attendance in the Online Journal;
• Monitor the development of the discipline and propose possible changes;
• Encourage students’ learning through comments on the activities sent for review and correction of forums and chats;
• Always be in contact with the coordination of EAD and the coordination of the course, attending their requests;

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE PRESIDENT’S GUARDIAN?

• Provide face-to-face assistance to students at the On-site Support Pole;
• Healing doubts about the technical issues of the platform, such as difficulty of access and difficulties with the handling of the Moodle Platform.
• To heal students’ doubts about activities, grades, platform, among others;
• To mediate communication between coordinators and tutors;
• To mediate communication between students and online tutors;
• Accompany the development of the disciplines, as well as the performance of online tutors;
• Support the coordinator of EaD in the planning and management of the activities developed during the semester;
• Monitor the development of face-to-face meetings.

HOW DO FREQUENCY AND PARTICIPATION CONTROL OCCUR ON THE MOODLE PLATFORM?

In the distance subjects, the presence or lack of the student is computed along with the activity that the student performs. In this sense, if the student did an activity he obtains the valid presences for this activity, the same happens with the absences: if the student stops performing an activity, the number of absences related to the activity is computed. The workload of each activity is made available in the document called “schedule of activities”, available in the “documents” folder in all disciplines.

For approval, the student should have, at least, frequency equal to or greater than 75%. If the frequency is lower, it will be considered frequency-deprecated.
It is worth noting that if the activity carried out by the student is identified as plagiarism, it may be subject to disapproval in the discipline.

WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I INTRODUCE PROBLEMS OF ACCESS TO THE MOODLE PLATFORM?

Any technical problems with Moodle, as well as difficulties to access the Virtual Learning Environment, should immediately look for the Live Support Pole to which you are linked, as well as forward the problems to the email atendimento.ead@facultyaraguaia .edu.br.
